Cloudstore

Cloudstore is a platform for accessing and sharing files. Cloudstore can be accessed at https://cloudstore.oxfordinformatics.org/. Logging in to Cloudstore requires an account on the Oxfordinformatics IdP.

Cloudstore uses Nextcloud which is functionally very similar to ownCloud but is more secure and better maintained.

Usage

You can use Cloudstore by following the steps below:

  • Ensure that you have an account on the OxfordInformatics IdP. Please email Abhinav Praveen to request this if required.
  • Go to https://cloudstore.oxfordinformatics.org
  • Follow the prompts to log in using your OxfordInformatics IdP account

    • Your first login to NextCloud may take a few minutes to complete – future logins will be much quicker
    • You may not see all of the folders you expect to have access to if your OxfordInformatics IdP account was just created. If you need urgent access or do not see the folders within one working day, please email Abhinav Praveen

Clients

There is client software allowing you to access Cloudstore from various platforms such as Windows, macOS, Android or iOS. To use a client, follow the steps below:

  • Download the Nextcloud client for your platform from: https://nextcloud.com/install/#desktop-files
  • Start Nextcloud and, if not already prompted, select the accounts drop down and select ‘add account’
  • Select ‘Log In’
  • Enter https://cloudstore.oxfordinformatics.org
  • A browser Window should pop up
  • Follow the prompts to log in with your OxfordInformatics IdP account
  • When prompted, you should select the 'Use virtual files instead of downloading content immediately'

Removing Accounts

In some cases, you may want to remove an account on the client. This is recommended if you previously had an ownCloud client installed on your devices and allowed the Nextcloud client to take over management during installation of the Nextcloud Client.

To disable an account on the client:

  • Open the Nextcloud Client. You can do this by searching for it in Windows Search or clicking on the icon in the Application Tray
  • Select the account dropdown in the top left
  • Click the three dots to the right of the account you wish to remove
  • Select 'Remove Account'
